Clan Armstrong Centre

Museo | Canonbie | Scotland | Reino Unido

Lovely little place to visit. Staff are very welcoming and knowledgable. Pre-recorded tour of the tower so you can go at your own pace and take in all the history. Lovely coffee and the gift shop has some adorable little bits and bobs. I enjoyed my visit.

An interesting small museum inside a pele tower associated with Johnny Armstrong (hanged by James V in 1530). A good place to visit if you are interested in the history of the reivers. It offers tea, coffee and biscuits but for a more substantial meal you would need to go to Newcastleton or Langholm.

After a long journey we were very disappointed that the centre was closed. There was conflicting information on the website which led us to believe it would be open.

Sadly the tower was closed when we visited, but we met a very nice man called Ian who told us about the renovation work planned. There are some great walks in beautiful countryside around which I'd thoroughly recommend!

So much work has gone into this building, as it was a ruin in 2003. I am an Armstrong so maybe that's why I got so much out of this, very interesting and would love to go again
